My mother (joined USN 6/45 as a nurse, never left the States, took care of the boys coming home from the Pacific), father (USAAF 42-45 North Africa and Italy, kept the planes flying), and uncle (USN 42-45 Pacific flying PBY’s not a pilot) were WW2 vets. Many stories and B&W pictures come to mind when reading in that time frame..
